CODE OF CONDUCT



Community. Purpose. Kindness.

At Studio Move, we are committed to providing a welcoming, safe and nurturing environment for all students and families.

To ensure a happy and positive experience for everyone, it’s important that students, parents & caregivers/guardians, extended family & friends and staff understand and adhere to the Code Of Conduct.

Students must:

  • Demonstrate respect for teachers, staff, parents and other students at all times.
  • Do their best to have fun, be kind to others and enjoy their dancing.
  • Demonstrate cooperative behaviour in class and not disrupt others.
  • Attend class regularly unless ill or injured, or in the event of a family emergency.
  • Arrive to class in a tidy and well-groomed manner with hair tied back neatly off the face.
    Ballet buns are required for ballet classes.
  • Dance uniforms and dance shoes must be worn for classes, where specified.

  • Mobile phones are to be switched off or on silent and are not to be used during class
    or taken into the studio.
  • Honour commitments made to Studio Move by attending classes, rehearsals
    and performances.
  • Serve as a role model to younger students at all times, including appropriate language
    and behaviour.
  • Respect fellow students, regardless of ability and strive to create a positive environment
    at all times.
  • Show honesty in attitude and preparation to class work, by working equally hard for self
    and class.
  • Show honesty with teachers concerning illness and injury and ability to participate in class. Being responsible for their own limits, listening well and being responsible for their own health and safety.
  • Property is left on the premises at the owner’s risk. Studio Move cannot be held responsible
    for items left unattended.
  • Put rubbish in the bins provided and clean up after yourself.
  • Show respect and care for studio equipment and facilities.
  • Ask for help if you need it! We are here for you!

Parents, Guardians & Families must:

  • Respect and follow advice and direction provided by teachers and staff at Studio Move.
  • Take responsibility for their dancer’s health and safety.
  • Advise in person if their child is to be collected by someone other than themselves and if we need to look out for your dancer.
  • Make sure your dancer gets inside the hall safely, is watched during lessons and picked up from the door.
  • Ensure that up-to-date contact details are available to Studio Move.
  • Demonstrate respect for teachers, students, staff and other parents at all times.
  • Display and teach appropriate behaviour among students, including respect for each
    other, teachers, adjudicators and people from other dance schools
  • Ensure siblings are supervised during your dancers classes.
  • Take responsibility to read email updates and newsletters and keep up-to-date with
    current and important information relating to Studio Move.
  • Raise any concerns with a teacher or staff member via email at

Teachers & Staff must:

  • Commit to providing quality, kind teaching in every class.
  • Ensure that students are involved in a positive environment where skill-learning
    and enjoyment are the priority.
  • Provide a safe space to learn, taking all steps possible to keep students happy and well while also understanding that they are not responsible for any accidental events or injuries.
  • Strive to ensure that all students are provided with performance opportunities
    compatible with their abilities, recognising that the nature of dance performance
    requires some students to undertake larger roles than others.
  • Ensure that all students are able to participate in learning and enjoyment regardless of ability.
  • Respect the talent, developmental stage and goals of each student and encourage
    with positive and supportive feedback.
  • Encourage students to reach their goals in dance, being at all times honest and
    never misrepresenting the abilities or potential of any student.
  • Ensure that any physical contact is professional and appropriate.
  • Monitor safety always.
  • Follow medical advice concerning the return of injured or ill students to class.
  • Display and teach appropriate behaviour among students, including respect for each
    other, teachers, adjudicators and people from other dance schools.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, not smoke or abuse alcohol or other drugs in
    the presence of students.
  • Demonstrate professional attitudes including punctuality and reliability.
  • Endeavour to keep informed of best practice in teaching and skill development in dance.
  • Refrain from any behaviour that may bring the Studio Move into disrepute.

Expectations of ALL involved with Studio Move:

  • Whilst at examinations/performances/events/festivals you are all ambassadors
    and representatives of Studio Move and we expect all students and parents to behave
    in a manner that is respectful and appropriate.
  • Verbal abuse of teachers, adjudicators, helpers and other students is NOT acceptable.
    Swearing will not be tolerated.
  • Bullying and harassment of any kind (including slander on Social Media) will NOT be tolerated.
  • No smoking, alcohol or drug consumption is permitted while at Studio Move, St Dominic’s
    College or in the immediate environment.
  • Should any issues arise that are a cause for concern about your child, teachers or the school,
    please email studiomove.contact@gmail.com and we will deal with the situation appropriately.

 Disciplinary Actions:

  • Inappropriate, disrespectful or aggressive behaviour by students, parents/guardians, extended
    family and friends, staff and volunteers will not be tolerated. This behaviour may result in
    the immediate cancellation of enrolment with no refunds or further discussion or immediate
    termination of employment or contract
  • A breach of the Code Of Conduct will result in one written warning. Further breaches may
    result in immediate cancellation of enrolment with no refunds or further discussion or
    immediate termination of enrolment or employment.
