Studio Move was launched in January 2018. We pride ourselves on being a fun, affordable, welcoming studio family who encourage dancers to be the best they can be. Studio Move is the perfect place for dancers of all abilities, from the recreational dancer through to the more competitive. Our students can extend their dance knowledge in a number of styles including Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acro, Musical Theatre and Hip Hop.
Our junior dance programme begins with dancers as young as 1.5 years old. In our youngest classes, children are encouraged to learn and explore the world of dance through song, movement, imagination and play. The junior Move classes are multi-genre, meaning students have light introductions to a range of dance styles including Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop within the one class. Our teachers are kind, energetic individuals who have many years experience within dancing and teaching. We love watching little Movers develop a genuine love of dance and feel lucky to share in that experience.
From age 4, students can start to move into more structured classes, separate styles and have the opportunity to begin learning formal work including NZAMD examinations and in-house assessments where desired. Throughout terms one to three our students are spending each week learning, growing, improving and training within their chosen disciplines while also taking time to have fun and create memories in the process. Following exams in the third term, we switch over to our favourite time of year – show time! Our annual end of year show is our biggest event on the calendar and is one you do want to be involved in. On top of exams, assessments and our end of year show, Movers have the opportunity to take part in our mid-year carnival (mini showcase), competitions, fundraisers, excursions and other fun things throughout the year.
