SANTA PARADE

SANTA PARADE

A green animated creature with a furry face, angry eyes, a green nose, and a frown.

Saturday 6th December • Te Atatū Peninsula

It’s nearly time to spread some Christmas cheer, Move-style! We’re so excited to have our dancers joining the annual Te Atatū Christmas Parade & Family Fun Day for the first time ever. Here’s everything you need to know:

Arrival & Sign-In

Arrive at Te Atatu Peninsula Intermediate (via Hereford Street back gate entrance) between 9.30-9.50am. Roads close from 10.00am so you will want to get through before this. Hereford St is also closed for making on both sides so you will want to allow extra time to walk down. The people at the gates will be able to direct you where Studio Move is meeting. We will have our yellow Easy Moves truck parked there too - you should see it! Please make sure to sign in & meet at the correct spot when you arrive so we can keep everyone safe and accounted for. The ladies in high vis with our clipboards will be doing the official sign in process. Everyone must report to them first and give your child’s name as well as a contact number for that day. From here, make sure your child is sunblocked, has hair bows, has had some snacks and water, been to the toilet and is good to go.

We will provide chips & lollipops for our dancers while they wait from 10.00-11.00 to make sure no one fades away. Dancers cannot have bags or any stuff with them during this time but are welcome to keep a drink bottle (named) with them. We will chuck them in the truck with us.

All parents who are not in the parade need to be gone by 10.10am. All parents who are helping us during the parade and walking with our kids - could you please wear Christmas colours or plain black?! You are a part of our team.

Dancers should wear:

  • Two high ponytails then plaits (we’ll provide festive ribbons on the day). Teens who are too old for piggytails can wear a low ponytail. Older dancers who are helping us out can also skip the costume and wear their Studio Move gear if preferred.

  • Their own Christmas / Grinch outfit! We have a few show costumes people can maybe borrow. Email if you need help!

  • White or black trainers (clean, please!)

  • White socks only!

  • Sunblock applied before you arrive

If you need help with hair, please arrive at 9.15am.

Parade Participation

Dancers aged 7 years and up who are confident learning choreography can join the dancing portion of our float. Dancers must attend rehearsals to learn and rehearse this:

  • Wednesday 3rd December, 6.30–7.15pm at Tui Glen

  • Thursday 4th December, 4.30–5.30pm at St Dominic’s College

  • Friday 5th December, 4.30-5.15pm at Tui Glen

  • WANT TO PRACTISE AT HOME? HERE’S A VIDEO FOR YOU. LET’S GO - VIDEO HERE.

Younger Movers or those not keen to dance will either ride on our float or walk alongside, holding hands with a big buddy! Please note that we will have limited space on our float and will not be able to try it out with kids until the day of the parade. Any dancers who cannot fit will walk. Dancers who don’t follow instructions or are deemed as too unsafe to be on the float for the duration will be asked to hop off and walk with a parent. Safety is a priority over where kids want to go. Please do not pop your dancer onto our float until staff have asked people to start packing in.

Costumes & Spirit

Please organise your dancer’s Christmas-themed costume - think festive, fun, colourful, and easy to move in! Our theme is The Grinch.

We’ll bring the hair bows & some treats to keep kids entertained before we commence!

A Few Final Tips

✅ Wear sunscreen
✅ Feed your dancer well before coming
✅ Bring a water bottle
✅ Be ready to smile, wave, and spread joy!
✅ Come and pick them up at the end of the parade

We can’t wait to dance down the streets of Te Atatū and celebrate the season together!
