Health & Safety at Studio Move

At Studio Move, the safety and wellbeing of our dancers, families, and staff are our top priority. We’re committed to maintaining a safe, supportive, and professional environment across all of our teaching spaces in Te Atatū Peninsula, Henderson, and St Dominic’s College.

Our Health & Safety policies are designed to meet New Zealand legislative standards while supporting safe dance practices and positive learning experiences for every student. These policies are available for families to view upon request and include:

Risk Management & Safe Practice

Regular inspections are carried out to ensure all venues and equipment are safe and well maintained. Hazards are clearly identified and addressed promptly. Teachers encourage correct attire, warm-ups, and safe dance technique to prevent injury, while supervision is maintained throughout every class and transition.

First Aid & Injury Response

Each venue has a stocked first aid kit and clear procedures for handling injuries or medical concerns. Teachers are trained in basic first aid and know how to manage incidents calmly and appropriately, including contacting caregivers or emergency services when required. All injuries are documented through incident reports and followed up promptly.

Emergency Procedures

All teachers are familiar with the fire exits and evacuation points at each location. In the event of an emergency, staff remain calm, lead safe evacuations, and ensure all students are accounted for before contacting emergency services.

Hygiene & Cleanliness

Studios are cleaned regularly to maintain a hygienic, professional learning space. Teachers and students are encouraged to stay home if unwell, and good hygiene practices are followed at all times.

Child Safety & Professional Conduct

All Studio Move staff are police-vetted and uphold strict professionalism. Teachers respect student privacy, ensure safe changing practices, and communicate with families only through official Studio Move channels.
We also respect the wishes of parents and caregivers who prefer their child not to be photographed or shared on social media. These preferences are recorded and shared with all relevant staff to ensure full privacy is maintained.

Environment & Supervision

To ensure safety in our shared community spaces, teachers take care to secure doors, monitor waiting areas, and ensure dancers are collected safely. We encourage caregivers to supervise children before and after class and to support our shared responsibility for a secure environment.

By following these guidelines, Studio Move continues to provide a safe, nurturing space where dancers can grow with confidence, creativity, and care.
