About Us
Studio Move is West Auckland’s home of dance, singing, acting, and gymnastics - a creative community for kids, teens, and adults. You can join us anytime & see what the fuss is all about!
At Studio Move, we’re more than just a dance studio. We’re a vibrant, supportive community where dancers of all ages and levels are encouraged to grow, express themselves, and enjoy the journey. Since opening in 2018, we’ve become a trusted name in West Auckland, known for our warm, family-first environment and our commitment to high-quality, affordable dance education. From our tiniest dancers at 18 months old to adults rediscovering their love for movement, we welcome everyone with a focus on fun, growth and belonging.
We offer a wide range of classes including Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acro + Gymnastics, Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Singing and Acting, with options for both recreational and competitive dancers. Our competitive dancers enjoy a strong soloist programme, as well as opportunities for duos, trios, and group entries at competitions across Auckland and beyond.
We proudly offer NZAMD Ballet and Jazz exams, as well as annual assessments in Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Acro. Our dance calendar is full of exciting events like spirit week, dress up days, summer camps, Disney day, the Te Atatu Christmas Parade, and two annual performances. Our first full studio performance is our Mid-Year Carnival, a relaxed showcase day with fun activities, clown visits, games and treats in-between. Our final and biggest (probably the best too) event comes at the end of the year. This is our full-scale end-of-year theatre show where every dancer gets to shine on stage! We love to do story-based productions like The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, and Snow White. It’s truly the highlight of our calendar year!
Whether your dancer is here for fun, good vibes, exams, or to pursue technical performance at the highest level, Studio Move is a place where they’ll feel confident, supported, and inspired to Move.

Our Team
At Studio Move, we are proud to have a dedicated, passionate, and talented teaching team who bring energy, care, and expertise to every class.
Led by Owner and Director Caitlin Matthewman, a busy mum of two with a Bachelor of Health Science and a background in teaching, Studio Move is truly a labour of love. Caitlin teaches Ballet, Jazz, Acro, Lyrical, and Contemporary, and leads our competition programme. Behind the scenes, Caitlin plans, organises, and dreams up every part of the Studio Move experience - from timetables to shows and everything in between. She is a lover of dance comps, event planning, teaching, road trips and family time, and is very proud of the vibrant Studio Move community. Her passion for her dancers and belief in the power of performing arts make Studio Move the special, family-centred place it is today.
Our amazing teaching team includes Olivia Bowman-Colligan, who spends her days teaching at a local intermediate school and her afternoons and evenings with us. Olivia is talented, driven, and full of fun - a key part of our Studio Move family. She teaches a wide range of classes including Baby Move, Tiny Move, Mini Move, Musical Theatre, Acro, Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and competition work. You will no doubt meet Miss Olivia (or hear her) at some point in your dance journey at Move and then you too will see what we mean.
Miss Brooke brings vibrancy and energy to every class and is loved by her students. She teaches Hip Hop, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Acro, Preschool, and junior competition classes at both our Henderson and Te Atatū Peninsula locations. When she’s not at Studio Move, she is tutoring Maths students, helping us with admin, hanging out with her family or grabbing another acai bowl.
Miss Maia, with her background in teaching and dance education, brings a wealth of knowledge and a calm, kind presence to the studio. She supports us with admin and teaches a variety of styles with a quietly passionate and thoughtful approach. Maia is a busy Mum of two girls, Sage & Thea, who you will probably see dancing at the studio a lot too.
Miss Claudia is our Junior teacher who was actually one of our first ever students here at Studio Move back when she was 8 years old. Claudia trains across a range of styles and is a valued member of our Competition Academy. Miss Donna is Claudia’s Mum and she is a long time supporter of Studio Move. Donna teaches Dance & Drama in the high school setting and is our much loved adult’s tutor.
We are lucky enough to have a large, dedicated group of assistant teachers who help out our staff and our younger students each week during class time. They are all students of Studio Move who love dancing, working with our Junior Movers and gaining experience and confidence in teaching.
Together, our staff are committed to creating a supportive and inspiring environment where every dancer can thrive.
