which class is right?
Every dancer is different and that’s what we love about it!
At Studio Move, each style offers a unique experience, from the structure and technique of Ballet, to the energy of Jazz, the expression of Lyrical and Contemporary, the rhythm of Tap, the confidence of Hip Hop, and the strength and skills developed in Acro. Finding the right class is about discovering what your dancer enjoys, connects with and feels excited to come back to each week. Many dancers also get to do more than one style, meaning they get to experience it all! For more information on what the classes are that we offer, click here.
To make sure every dancer is supported and set up for success, we follow strict age guidelines across all classes, and skill-based placement for our Acro programme. This helps ensure dancers are learning alongside others at a similar stage, progressing safely and receiving the best possible training in a positive and encouraging environment.

2025 Mini Jazz (Thursday 3.30pm, Te Atatū Peninsula) → 2026: If 4-5 years old move to 2026 Mini Jazz (Thursday, 3.30pm). If 6-7 years old, move to 2026 Junior Jazz (Thursday, 4.30pm) or Petite Jazz (Wednesday, 5.00pm).
2025 Junior Jazz (Wednesday 4.45pm or Thursday 4.30pm, Te Atatū Peninsula) → 2026: If 6-7 years old, move to 2026 Junior Jazz (Thursday, 4.30pm) or if 6-8 years old move to Petite Jazz (Wednesday, 5.00pm). If 8-10 years old, or if your dancer sat the 2025 exam (Rosette 3 Jazz), move to 2026 Primary Jazz (Wednesday 4.00pm).

2026 Acro Guidelines
The level at which your dancer is placed for Acro is ultimately determined by our team. It is of utmost importance that students are in the right class for them so that they are happy, safe and are able to learn at a similar pace to other classmates. Acro can be dangerous for dancers if they are placed too high. We will use our professional discretion to assess skill level. Use the below guideline to help figure out where they might be. We will then confirm all enrolments one by one as they come through.
2026 Henderson Acro Classes
Saturday (mostly age based)
Preschool Acro - 3-4 years
Little Acro - 5 years
Diamond Acro - 6-7 years
Emerald Acro - 8-10 years
Monday
Beginner Acro - 5-8 years (perfect for dancers new to Acro or gaining confidence)
Tuesday
Petite Acro - 6-8 years AND dancer can independently get into and hold bridge, and cartwheel
Primary Acro - 7-11 years AND dancer can independently backbend (from standing to bridge), cartwheel and front limber, kickovers progressing or mastered
Elementary Acro - 9-12 years AND dancer can front and backwards kickover and front OR backwards walkover, has Acro experience
Intermediate Acro - 10-12 years, AND dancer has advanced acrobatic skills and flexibility
Wednesday
Senior Acro - 13+ years (age based)
